DINOSAUR WORD MAT
‘Dinosaur’ word mat. Why not use in conjunction with our ‘Dinosaur’ word cards? Includes 10 different prehistoric creatures (8 dinosaurs, 1 marine reptile and 1 flying reptile). Can be used as part of a display or activities. Endless discussions can be engaged in describing these creatures. For example whether they are herbivores or carnivores, physical attributes such as length of their necks, armoured tails, horns, fins, wings, plates, number of legs, etc. Older children can be challenged to further contemplate ‘how’ and ‘why’ questions building on these observations. For example ‘Why do you think the herbivore ankylosaurus may have had an armoured tail?’…or ‘How do you think the brachiosaurus reached to the top of the trees for its food?’
