INSIDE A POLAR BEAR DEN
Polar Bears who are about to give birth dig themselves a den in the snow. They generally incorporate the features in this poster. Mother Polar Bears most frequently give birth to twins. Sometimes they may have one cub, less frequently three cubs and rarely four. It is important that the mother and her cubs stay protected in their den for the coldest Winter months after the cubs are first born. Most expectant Polar Bears dig their dens in mid to late October. Mother and cubs emerge from their den in late March or April.
