MY FIREWORKS SENSES POEM
These Firework Senses Poem mark making prompt sheets will help encourage your children to draw and/or write about their senses and start to get a feel for poetry!
Children can complete them at varying levels. For example, your youngest children may be able to tell you what they see or hear and you can scribe a single word in each box. Some children may like to make marks to represent what they sense and your more developed children may like to write the rest of the sentence thinking about describing words to build a picture in the reader’s mind. Please note, the words do not need to rhyme.

FIREWORK COLOUR CHECKLISTS
Which colours can you spot? Why not be creative with this resource?…
If at home, perhaps watching a firework display (outside or from a window), encourage your child(ren) to look out for the colours on the chart and tick them off as they see them.
Alternatively, watch a recording of a fireworks display and even hit pause to discuss and identify the colours you see.
For a more physical sensory experience, why not create objects to represent fireworks in a tuff spot or on a trail around your setting/home in the appropriate colours? Children can then tick them off as they find each colour.
If your children need extending, consider an element of counting and perhaps even tally mark making.
Have fun!

FIREWORK RHYTHMS
Fireworks sound cards to encourage children’s sense of rhythm and enjoyment of making sounds. Cards are different lengths to show the duration of each sound. You could introduce the sounds to the children first, for example getting them to say the long sound ‘zoooooom’ a few times in a row. Then showing them that the ‘bang’ sound is shorter and two bangs are equal to one zoooooom! You could follow this by showing the cards so that they have a visual cue as you develop different rhythms with them.

FIREWORKS ACTIVITY CHALLENGE
Have great fun with your children moving like Fireworks with this set of 6 Fireworks Activity Challenge cards. Perhaps children could stand in a circle around the pile of cards and take turns to pick one for everyone to do. Cards could equally be shrunk down and placed on a key ring to take out on adventures or featured on an indoor or outdoor display board and referred to with everyone carrying out the activity on floor space in front. Once the children get to know the cards they will be able to relate the action to the picture without necessarily needing the card read to them...For example an adult may be able to simply hold up a card and everyone will be able to do the activity together! For those children who are exceptionally engaged, these cards explored in sequence could even be set to music as a dance performance! Great for physical development, descriptive language, understanding the world and turn taking.
